VMware Workstation 與 VMware ESXi選擇?

需要大約8-10種測試環境，XP+SQL2000-2005-2008 Win7+2005-2008 winServer2003+SQL2000-2005-2008，可能需要同時運行2-3種環境測試（並非提供服務）單純運行AP與SQL作為環境測試，不知道VMware Workstation是否有提供區域網路可連線至實體電腦進行測試、管理（同時2-3台電腦連入實體電腦)或者需要架設VMware ESXi Server環境較為適合？感謝回覆！謝謝~

其實應該要先考量你的硬體有沒有在 ESXi 的支援清單中~
因為 ESXi 是 Bare Metal Hypervisor，對硬體要求較苛，不是每台電腦都一定能上 ESXi！

當然若硬體可以支援的話，個人也是比較推薦用 ESXi

VMware Workstation就可以測試了
而且各VM也可以互通
完全看在網路卡如何設定而已

甚至VM Player也可以

VM Player要安裝在OS上，只能跑VM，不能開新VM。
VMware ESXi Server 很挑網卡與主機板，最好準備品牌伺服器(挑有支援ESXi驅動)。曾經裝起來過，沒用因不曉得要怎麼備份... (該不會是要花錢買吧)
免費還有 VMware Server (更新很慢)，跟VMware Workstation一樣要安裝在OS上。
VM直接連到實體網路，VM網卡用橋接模式就行了阿...

考慮到未來性及省下一個主機的LICENSES費用, 使用 ESXi 是比較好的選擇, 因為 ESXi 是免費的, 且 VMWARE 未來也將以 ESXi 為主, 預計下半年就有 ESXi v5.0, 而 ESX 就沒有了, 至於 WORKSTATION等版本都是舊版了,又要花錢, 換 ESXi 吧~

請問你說ESXi是免費的是只Vsphere 4 essential 嗎? 不是plus對吧. 為什麼我的vsphere 4 essential 要錢?? $27500 可以支援3 host OS.

Hopefully you have some knowledges about the Type I and Type II Virtualization's difference and comparison.
VMware ESXi is very picky in the certified hardware list, it supports like branded/certified servers (IBM x3690 x5, x3650 M3, x3850 M5 or HP DL360 G7, DL380 G7, DELL R710, R910....)only. DIY hardware has to try your own luck.
In fact, VMware Workstation needs vaild purchased license (Trial license only 1 month), if you have license and legal concerns. You'd better get some fundings to purchase it.
Hyper-V R2 is a good choice ==> Microsoft Hyper-V is a free hypervisor-based virtualization system for x86-x64 systems. The stand-alone version of Hyper-V Server 2008 was first released as a free software together with availability Windows Server 2008. With the release of R2 version, the Hyper-V Server 2008 R2 is still available as the free software product.
Or Ubuntu 10.10 Desktop version + Oracle Virtualbox 4.0 ==> Various guest OS (Windows XP, Windows 7, Windows 2008 Server supported....) without legal issues.
