如果在x86-based 的Solaris 10系統中加入一顆硬碟，要怎麼做才可以讓OS認得這顆硬碟呢?
第一種方式:

執行 devfsadm -v 指令;
以 format 指令確認有看到這顆新硬碟出現;

第二種方式:

執行 touch /recofigure 指令;
reboot OS;
登入系統, 以 format 指令確認有看到這顆新硬碟出現;

第三種方式:

將OS帶到所謂的GRUB選單, ('ok' mode是SPARC platform使用的);
在ok的提示符號執行 boot -r 的指令, 開啟OS;
登入系統, 以 format 指令確認有看到這顆新硬碟出現;

Solaris X86 OS only in GRUB environment instead of "OK" prompt. "OK" prompt--(the exact name is Openboot) is only available in SPARC chipset ( UltraSPARC--from SUN or SPARC64--from Fujitsu ).

GRUB now is a default IPL ( initial program loading ) for both Linux distrubtion and Solaris x86 platform.

In fact, MAC OS also used Openboot before but now no more. Compared with Openboot and GRUB, majority of users find the usage of Openboot is more difficult than GRUB's.

Please refer to Solaris 10 System Admin I. There is one chapter just mentions the "Openboot--OK prompt", the other charpter tells end-user how to utilize "GRUB".
