Disintermediation vs. Reintermediation
The development of Internet overthrow certain roles and replaced their functions in the business ecosystem. In some industries, Intermediary jobs already eliminated because the internet built up the direct bridge of communication between customers and companies without any middle interface. For example, in past 10 years, consumers bought flight tickets and booked reservation via agencies, but now they place order on the airplane company's and hotel's official website by click.
It seems like a wonderful deal that we could reduce the budget for the channel management , and we don’t need to share the profit with intermediary. At that time, we might feel ourselves as heroes who beat other evil groups stealing our profits.You're reading the script of superhero movie. Perfect!
However, the truth is that we're playing in the video game which named “ internet is everything”. In fact, you could image that we just transfer the game equipment from knife(yellow page book) to AK47(internet) and this is the compensation from business model system upgrade while it applied advanced technology. Also, it brings new BOSSes into the whole game world. Who are they? (using the reservation of hotel for the example )
