I did use both Exadata and exalogic before. Before the deployment, think about the main purpose you want to leverage on this Optimal Platform.

1. The price is very expensive and the solution/hardware locked to the specified hardware principals.(Normally at least 0.6 million USD without maintenance)
2. Some features you may not need you have to pay license on it. Normally you have to get some skills on it before you can manage them properly : Solaris 11 Express/Oracle 11g RAC/Weblogic Cluster/ZFS SAN storage/NDMP backup experience/Proprietary system patch management...
3. Out of the boxes, it is hard to integrate with the rest of solutions (backup/system monitoring/patches mgt/Firewall and security/Anti-Virus and ITSM system...)
4. Normally, if you only have MS expertise and you will feel very hard to manage it. LDOMs/Solaris Containers/Oracle RAC/Clusterware/ZFS/Oracle Linux/Oracle VM/Solaris 11 and command lines....)

買這種設備很貴，而且你硬體用了多少核心都被原廠吃死死，自已買伺服器來安裝即可。
