[Config]
- Day: Day27 – On-call Incident Handling
- Scenario: You are the on-call software engineer responding to a production incident. You need to describe the problem, impact, current progress, and next steps to your team during a late-night emergency call.
記得把對話錄下來,自己聽一次,想想有哪裡不自然、哪裡需要調整。
可以參考以下結構來進行對話:
描述問題狀況
說明影響範圍
回報目前進展
提出下一步
1) Per-turn Corrections
Turn 1: You said “the order book is just not updates from the new data.”
Rewrite: “The order book is just not updating with the new data.”
Alternative: “The order book isn't receiving the new data.”
Turn 3: You said “the user can’t see the real-time price and order book.”
Rewrite: “The users can’t see the real-time prices and the order book.”
Alternative: “They can’t view real-time prices or the order book.”
Turn 5: You said “I’m looking in log and I found some error message there.”
Rewrite: “I’m looking at the logs and I found some error messages there.”
Alternative: “I’m checking the logs and I see some errors.”
Turn 7: You said “I found something wrong with the WebSocket re-connection and I’ll check the code.”
Rewrite: “I’ve found there’s something wrong with the WebSocket reconnection, and I’ll check the code.”
Alternative: “I noticed an issue with WebSocket reconnection and I’m going to look at the code.”
Turn 9: You said “I think it’s related to the WebSocket re-connection issue.”
Rewrite: “I think it’s related to the WebSocket reconnection issue.”
Alternative: “It seems tied to the WebSocket reconnection problem.”
2) Top 3 Patterns
Plural agreement: Remember to add 's' for plurals like “prices” and “logs.” A simple rule: if it’s more than one, add an ‘s.’
Articles (a/an/the): Sometimes you skip “a” or “the.” A quick tip: use “the” when it’s specific, like “the order book.”
Prepositions: Little words like “at” or “with” matter. For logs, say “looking at the logs.”
3) Phrase Pack
“The order book isn’t updating with new data.”
“Users can’t see real-time prices.”
“I’m checking the logs for errors.”
“It looks like a WebSocket reconnection issue.”
“I’ll review the code to fix it.”
4) Intonation Tip
Emphasize the problem source. For example, stress “WebSocket reconnection” so it stands out: “I think it’s related to the WebSocket reconnection issue.”
5) Fluency & Pronunciation Notes
Your sentences are getting smoother and clearer.
You’re doing well with repeating corrections accurately.
Keep focusing on those little words (like prepositions).
6) Key Focus for Next Time
Let’s work on consistent use of plurals and articles.
A quick 3-minute drill: shadow a few sentences focusing on these small words and plural forms.
