- Day: Day14 – Bug Discussion
- Scenario: Daily stand-up or ad-hoc meeting to discuss a critical bug.
挑選一個你遇過的 Bug,想一下:
並且把關鍵字寫下來。
我的關鍵字:
記得把對話錄下來,自己聽一次,想想有哪裡不自然、哪裡需要調整。
今天的重音我認為我進步很多,繼續努力!
1) Per-turn Corrections
Turn 2:
Your sentence: "The bug happened when I canceled an order to the API."
Recast: "You mean: The bug happens when you cancel an order through the API."
Alternative phrasing: "The bug appears when the API order is canceled."
Turn 4:
Your sentence: "The API response didn't return the order's status."
Recast: "You mean: The API response doesn't return the order’s status."
Alternative phrasing: "The response from the API doesn’t show the order status."
Turn 8:
Your sentence: "I suggest to use another API to check the order’s status after we cancel the order."
Recast: "You mean: I suggest we use another API to check the order’s status after we cancel the order."
Alternative phrasing: "We could use a different API to verify the status after canceling."
2) Top 3 Patterns
Tense Consistency: Remember to keep present tense for ongoing situations. A simple rule: if it's still relevant now, stay in present tense.
Prepositions (to vs. through): Use "through the API" instead of "to the API" when describing actions via an interface. A quick tip: think of data going "through" a tunnel.
Extra Words: Try to keep sentences a bit shorter and avoid adding extra words like "to" unnecessarily.
3) Phrase Pack
"The bug happens when we cancel an order through the API."
"The API response doesn’t return the order’s status."
"I tried using both the order ID and the client order ID."
"We can use another API to check the order’s status."
"Let’s think about how to fix this bug."
4) Intonation Tip
Stress on Key Actions: Emphasize verbs like "happens" or "check" so your listener easily catches the main action. For example, "We check the order’s status."
5) Fluency & Pronunciation Notes
You did well with clarity. Keep your sentences short and steady.
Good job repeating the corrected sentences; that helps with muscle memory.
Your vowel sounds were clear. Just keep an eye on stressing the right words for emphasis.
6) Key Focus for Next Time
Improvement Goals: Practice keeping tenses consistent, using the right prepositions, and stressing key verbs.
3-Min Drills: Try a quick shadowing exercise: listen to a short sentence, then repeat it with the same stress. Or do a substitution drill: swap in different verbs but keep the structure. Finally, do a quick summary of what we practiced to reinforce it.
