Scrum Master 的定義
在 Scrum Guide 中的定義:Scrum Master 按照 Scrum Guide 中的說明,指導團隊,讓團隊中每個人了解 Scrum 的理論、實務、規則及價值觀,並推廣及支援 Scrum。如果用一個貼切的職稱來說明 Scrum Master,Scrum Master 比較像是部隊中的輔導長或是學校內的輔導老師,也有一說是『僕人式領導』(servant-leader),協助產品負責人及團隊產出最大價值。
Scrum Master 做些什麼呢?
協助 Product Owner
- 確保 Scrum Team 每位成員都盡可能的理解目標、範圍與產品方向(Ensuring that goals, scope, and product domain are understood by everyone on the Scrum Team as well as possible)
- 找出有效管理產品待辦清單的方法(Finding techniques for effective Product Backlog management)
- 協助團隊了解為什麼需要清楚簡潔的產品待辦清單工作項目(Helping the Scrum Team understand the need for clear and concise Product Backlog items)
- 從過去的經驗中學習了解產品規劃(Understanding product planning in an empirical environment)
- 確保產品負責人知道如何讓產品待辦清單產生最大價值(Ensuring the Product Owner knows how to arrange the Product Backlog to maximize value)
- 理解與實踐敏捷(Understanding and practicing agility)
- 在被要求或需要的時候,引導團隊 Scrum 活動
協助開發團隊
- 教練開發團隊如何形成自組織及跨職能團隊(Coaching the Development Team in self-organization and cross-functionality)
- 協助開發團隊創造高價值產品(Helping the Development Team to create high-value products)
- 協助移除開發團隊在過程遇到的阻礙(Removing impediments to the Development Team’s progress)
- 在被要求或需要的時候,引導團隊 Scrum 活動(Facilitating Scrum events as requested or needed)
- 在組織還未能完全採用及理解 Scrum 時教練開發團隊(Coaching the Development Team in organizational environments in which Scrum is not yet fully adopted and understood)
協助組織
- 帶領及教練組織如何導入 Scrum(Leading and coaching the organization in its Scrum adoption)
- 規劃 Scrum 在組織內的實踐流程(Planning Scrum implementations within the organization)
- 幫忙員工及利害關係人了解及制定 Scrum 及經驗主義的產品開發流程(Helping employees and stakeholders understand and enact Scrum and empirical product development)
- 促進改變來增加 Scrum 團隊的產能(Causing change that increases the productivity of the Scrum Team)
- 與其他 Scrum Master 來增加組織內 Scrum 應用的有效性(Working with other Scrum Masters to increase the effectiveness of the application of Scrum in the organization)

- 專職簿記(A Scribe):在 Scrum 的所有會議中負責記錄?
- 團隊秘書(A Secretary):安排團隊 Scrum 活動的所有行程時間?
- 敏捷警察(The Scrum Police):嚴格執行 Scrum Guide 中描述的所有規則,團隊一違反就開出罰單?
- 團隊老闆(The Team Boss):負責評量考績、人事權、薪資調整?
- 行政管理(The Admin):負責將團隊的紀錄一一填寫到系統上?
