IT 顧問這件事雖然可以說, 但是多是經驗談, 而非定義, 事實上網路上的定義也很少, 我在寫之前就 google 了一下, 發現資料少的可憐, 所以才有這動機寫說補足這部份的不足, 但現在寫到過半後, 發現要繼續寫較為嚴謹的定義是不太可能了, 在準備 Talk 之前, 先來寫寫網路上的資料.

甚至之後我會 "強力邀請" 幾位也是在做 IT 顧問, 年薪百萬到數百萬的同行, 來說說他自己的經驗, 我相信這部份應該會比我寫的更精彩.
事實上在 wiki 上真的有定義何謂 Information technology consulting, 理面說到工作項目包含 providing advice (提供資詢), implement (開發), deploy (布署), administer (管理), 除外也說這分成三類:

1. Professional services firms which maintain large professional workforces and command high bill rates.
2. Staffing firms, which place technologists with businesses on a temporary basis, typically in response to employee absences, temporary skill shortages and technical projects.
3. Independent consultants, who function as employees of staffing firms , or as independent contractors in their own right.

這個是以顧問的方式來做區分:

1. 在專業的公司服務
2. 臨時編制
3. 獨立顧問

而在 英國官方畢業生求職網站中也有定義何謂 IT Consultant, 而我就摘要翻譯一下:

An IT consultant works in partnership with clients, advising them how to use information technology in order to meet their business objectives or overcome problems. Consultants work to improve the structure and efficiency and of an organsiation's IT systems.

IT 顧問是與利用資訊科技來解決問題, 以及增進改良組織的 IT 系統.

IT consultants may be involved in a variety of activities, including marketing, project management, client relationship management and systems development.

工作項目包含: 行銷, 專案管理, 管理, 開發.

They may also be responsible for user training and feedback. In many companies, these tasks will be carried out by an IT project team. IT consultants are increasingly involved in sales and business development, as well as technical duties.

也包含教育訓練, 與問答, 在某些公司也會帶領 IT 專案小組, 也會用其 IT 觀點參與業務與營運計劃.

以及工作項目:

1. meeting with clients to determine requirements; 滿足客互須求
2. working with clients to define the scope of a project; 定義專案觀點
3. planning timescales and the resources needed; 計劃資源須求
4. clarifying a client's system specifications, understanding their work practices and the nature of their business; 釐清, 定義, 了解, 實現公司產業
5. travelling to customer sites; 拜訪客戶
6. liaising with staff at all levels of a client organisation; 提升員工能力
7. defining software, hardware and network requirements; 定義軟硬體須求
8. analysing IT requirements within companies and giving independent and objective advice on the use of IT; 分析客戶須求提出獨立客觀的建議
9. developing agreed solutions and implementing new systems; 開發解決新系統
10. presenting solutions in written or oral reports; 提出口頭書面報告
11. helping clients with change-management activities; 協助企業改造
12. project managing the design and implementation of preferred solutions; 選擇較好的解決方案
13. purchasing systems where appropriate; 購買適合的系統
14. designing, testing, installing and monitoring new systems; 設計, 測試, 安裝與監控新系統
15. preparing documentation and presenting progress reports to customers; 對客互提出進度報告
16. organising training for users and other consultants; 組織訓練
17. being involved in sales and support and, where appropriate, maintaining contact with client organisations; 參與業務支援, 維護合約
18. identifying potential clients and building and maintaining contacts. 找出有潛力的客戶與建立合約
